If you overindulged this holiday season, streamline your diet at Organika Kitchen, a new plant-based, mod, LA-style eatery.
Find Lulu-clad yoga moms, lawyers, hairdressers, teens and toddlers digging into açaí bowls, sipping smoothies and ordering veggie burritos, gyros, salads and burgers to go.
“It makes us happy to see all ages enjoying our food,” says owner Kathy Riccio, “ranging from the two-year-old who loves our super green smoothie, to teenagers loving the Kalifornia burgers, açaí bowls and smoothies loaded with antioxidants, to seniors healing their inflammation with ginger and turmeric.”
A longtime proponent of healthy eating, Riccio credits her husband, Gino (owner of Quattro Pazzi restaurant in Fairfield and Stamford), as “the real visionary and chef” behind the project. “He believed in my dream and made it reality,” she says. “I have always believed, ‘Let thy food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.’ It makes so much sense. Nothing is more important than providing real, clean, healthy, sustainable food for my family, friends and community. If we all eat this way, even a few days a week, we would feel so much better.”
Organika Kitchen’s menu is loaded with plant-based, organic specialties that pack a nutritional wallop. Best-sellers include the Kalifornia burger (quinoa, sweet potato, black beans, topped with lettuce, tomatoes, chipotle sauce, and guacamole on a multigrain bun), the Almond Crunch bowl (almond milk, almond butter, banana, blueberry, açaí, topped with strawberry, granola, banana and raw honey) and the decadent Avocado Chocolate Mousse.
