Kristen Cusato, a self-proclaimed “news girl turned non-profit employee,” can usually be found wearing a maxi dress or pants and a colorful top. But for our fashion shoot (see it in our Sept/Oct issue), we jacked her up with a red-hot dress and then a glamorous burgundy fur jacket. Here we take you behind the scenes with Kristen and the fashion shoot!
Favorite bargain item: Steve Madden Gladiator sandals I found on sale. I loved the beige ones so much that I went back for the black ones!
Typical night out: Kiraku for sushi and then Molto Wine Bar.
Thoughts on her look: The red dress made me feel like I was going to a gala at the Met. The four-inch heels? Let's just say I had to put them on when I was already in place for the photos. And I loved the way the girls did my hair, I have been trying to replicate it ever since!
On doing a fashion shoot: It was definitely a rock star kind of day! I think the best part was when one of the girls was sitting on the ground pointing a hair dryer at my face so my hair would flow in the pretend breeze! Ha! I really enjoyed the whole experience; playing “diva for a day” was a blast!
A day in the life: This is all new to me, after being a news anchor for twenty-two years, I now train and educate and fundraise in Fairfield County for the Alzheimer's Association. A typical day may start with teaching The 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's to seniors at a local senior center, then having a care consultation with someone who has a relative newly diagnosed with the disease. The day may end with a committee meeting for the upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer's.
