The founders of Acoustic Hot Tuna are lifelong friends and professional musicians Jack Casady and Jorma Kaukonen. Both bathed in the San Fran psychedelic rock of the late 1960s with Jefferson Airplane (featuring Grace Slick, Marty Balin, Paul Kantner, Kaukonen on guitar, Casady on bass, and Spencer Dryden) before moving on to explore traditional folk and blues, both acoustic and electric. You can catch them this summer at FTC, which hosts a number of programs, from teaching music to children to theater readings by Play with Your Food to countless collaborative programs with area nonprofits. It also offers A. Lot. Of. Music. The schedule has agonizing choices (see timeline below)—and now venue choices, too. FTC no longer wanted to choose between performances at the intimate StageOne in Fairfield or large shows at the history-soaked The Klein in Bridgeport. They’ve added a mid-sized option by welcoming the Norwalk Concert Hall, 125 East Ave., into their venue portfolio. If you haven’t been to the hall, it’s located right off I-95 in East Norwalk. Who’s coming up: Jonathan Edwards (June 7, StageOne), Acoustic Hot Tuna (June 22, Norwalk Concert Hall).
